These three components will affect the service life of the cooling tower.

An aluminum-alloy, wide-blade fan has been selected for the cooling tower’s exhaust system. The cooling tower fan features aluminum-alloy blades, while the connecting crossbeam is fabricated from high-quality carbon steel plate, offering the advantages of light weight, smooth operation, and low noise. Prior to shipment, the cooling tower fan undergoes a balancing test at the manufacturing facility, with balance weights precisely positioned on each blade. During installation, users must not remove these factory-installed balancing plates. The fan pitch of the cooling tower is fixed; however, it can be adjusted at the factory to meet specific airflow requirements. In normal operation and installation, the blade pitch should generally not be altered arbitrarily, as such adjustments may lead to fan vibration and excessive noise.

Buy a closed cooling tower—focus on these key points!

The cooling tower shell must achieve a certain thickness, with high hardness and toughness, excellent flexural strength, and superior surface gloss. However, some cooling tower manufacturers, in their pursuit of cost savings, not only choose inferior materials but also produce shells that are prone to aging, cracking, and fading. Moreover, the shell often fails to meet the required thickness and strength standards, significantly shortening the cooling tower's service life.

How do you choose the coil for a closed-circuit cooling tower?

A closed-circuit cooling tower (also known as an evaporative air cooler or a closed-type cooling tower) features a tubular heat exchanger housed within the tower. It achieves cooling by facilitating heat exchange between circulating water, spray water, and flowing air. Because it operates in a closed-loop system, it ensures that the water quality remains uncontaminated, effectively safeguarding the efficient operation of the main equipment and extending its service life. When ambient temperatures are relatively low, the spray-water system can be shut down, thereby conserving water. With the implementation of national energy-saving and emission-reduction policies and the growing scarcity of water resources, closed-circuit cooling towers have seen widespread adoption in recent years across industries such as iron and steel metallurgy, power electronics, mechanical processing, and air-conditioning systems.

How to Distinguish Between the Three Types of Closed-Circuit Cooling Towers

Whether it's an open-circuit cooling tower or a closed-circuit cooling tower, they are generally categorized into two types: crossflow and counterflow. In a crossflow cooling tower, the direction of the incoming air is perpendicular to the direction of the water flow. This type of cooling tower is suitable for residential central air-conditioning systems; it produces low noise, has a simple structure, and is easy to maintain. In contrast, a counterflow cooling tower has the incoming air flow directed exactly opposite to the water flow. It occupies a smaller footprint but generates slightly more noise. It is particularly well-suited for industrial cooling applications, such as in the casting, forging, and heat treatment industries.
