How wide is the application range of closed cooling towers?

The complete set of closed cooling tower equipment consists of a main unit, water tank, circulating pump, and electrical control cabinet, among other components. Notably, the main unit itself includes parts such as the casing, heat exchanger, fan, spray pump, water collector, water trough, and pipeline gate valves. It’s safe to say that closed cooling towers can be found everywhere in our daily lives—and they’re also widely used across numerous industries. But exactly where can these versatile cooling towers be applied?

Notably, the main unit itself includes parts such as the casing, heat exchanger, fan, spray pump, water collector, water trough, and pipeline gate valves. It’s safe to say that closed cooling towers can be found everywhere in our daily lives—and they’re also widely used across numerous industries. But exactly where can these versatile cooling towers be applied?

During the operation of a closed cooling tower, the cooling medium is circulated between the heat exchanger and the equipment requiring cooling, driven by the main circulation pump. Meanwhile, the spray water is evenly distributed over the heat exchanger, forming a uniform film of condensed water on its surface. Cool air enters the tower body through the air inlets located directly beneath the tower structure, flowing countercurrently across the surface of the heat exchanger as it comes into contact with the spray water.

Throughout this process, two heat transfer methods are involved: conduction between the cold air and the cooling medium, and heat exchange via the evaporative cooling effect as the spray water absorbs heat during evaporation. After absorbing heat, the resulting warm, humid air is expelled into the atmosphere by a fan. Meanwhile, the remaining spray water flows back into the sump located at the bottom of the tower, where it is pumped back up to the spray system for reuse. This continuous cycle ensures that the cooling medium inside the heat exchanger is effectively cooled and temperature-reduced.

Closed-circuit cooling towers operate in two modes: one is air-cooled, and the other combines air cooling with spray irrigation. The transition between these two modes is fully automated by an electric control system based on load requirements, ensuring energy efficiency and emission reduction. Typically, thanks to their numerous advantages, closed-circuit cooling towers can serve as cooling equipment for induction heating and metal-smelting systems—such as high- and medium-frequency quenching units, medium-frequency power supplies and electric furnaces, induction heating furnaces, and holding furnaces, among others.

Additionally, it can also be used to cool various types of reactors and cooling water circuits in the chemical industry, as well as for cooling large-scale electric motors, diesel engines, transformer equipment, arc welding machines, hydraulic systems, and continuous casting units. Moreover, closed-circuit cooling towers are widely employed to cool large molds such as metal die-casting molds and injection molds, as well as manufacturing solutions used in industrial processes.

Closed-circuit cooling towers are now used in a truly wide range of applications. If you have any needs related to closed-circuit cooling towers, feel free to contact us using the information below.
