How to winterize a closed cooling tower?

As winter approaches, closed-circuit cooling towers, like our other equipment, must take the necessary measures to successfully get through the winter, ensure that there are no problems, play a normal role, and escort production.

Entering winter, closed cooling towers, like our other equipment, must also take the necessary measures to successfully get through the winter, ensure that there are no problems with the body, play a normal role, and escort production.

1. The safest way is to replace the internal circulating medium with antifreeze, so that you can sit back and relax. Whether it is 24-hour operation, temporary maintenance, or accidental power failure, it will not cause losses.

2. When shutting down in winter, if the inside is pure water circulation, all the accumulated water inside should be drained. When draining, the vent valve at the highest point of the coil and system should be opened, and the drain valve at the lowest point should be opened at the same time to discharge the internal air, so that the internal accumulated water can be completely drained.

3. In order to completely drain the internal accumulated water and prevent the coil from accidentally freezing and cracking, it is necessary to introduce compressed air into the vent pipe at the high point of the coil and squeeze out the accumulated water by injecting high-pressure gas.

4. During normal operation, pay attention to the icing of the spray water. It is recommended to turn off the spray pump in winter, and at the same time drain the accumulated water in the spray water tank, and at the same time open the drain valve at the bottom of the pump base of the spray pump, and at the same time open the vent valve on the upper part of the pump body to drain the accumulated water in the spray pump.

5. Pay attention to the fan blades. In winter, if the machine is shut down for a short time, rainy and snowy weather, white fog and rain, dripping water from the eaves, etc., may cause ice to form on the outside of the fan blades. When starting, the resistance increases, collision, frozen bearings and other reasons may cause the fan motor to burn out, affecting production.

6. Dripping of spray water, pay attention to whether there is spray water spilling or leaking around the tower, causing icing on the outer shell of the equipment and the surrounding area; whether the spray water replenishment pipeline is insulated and whether it can be frozen and cracked, etc.

7. Electrical control, when the control cabinet is outdoors, the heavy snow covers the upper part of the cabinet. Because the waterproof level of the cabinet is not high, the melted snow may enter the inside of the cabinet along the gaps or small holes, electrical component installation holes, etc., causing a short circuit and damaging the equipment.
