Do you already know these facts about closed-circuit cooling towers?
When evaluating the performance indicators of a closed cooling tower, the installation location is an important factor to consider. The operation of a closed cooling tower requires a significant amount of air to enter the tower; therefore, ample space must be ensured around the unit to maintain proper functionality. When determining the installation location for a closed cooling tower, the primary concern should be preventing hot air from flowing back into the system.

What is thermal reflux?
Thermal air reflux refers to the phenomenon where a portion of the humid, hot air exhausted from a cooling tower is drawn back into the tower itself, re-entering the heat exchange process. This is commonly known simply as "reflux." When the high-enthalpy exhaust air reaches saturation, its wet-bulb temperature can be 5–8°C higher than that of the surrounding atmospheric air. As a result, reflux directly raises the wet-bulb temperature of the air entering the cooling tower. And when the inlet air’s wet-bulb temperature increases, the cooling tower's overall performance—its ability to dissipate heat—is significantly diminished.

For example, if the wet-bulb temperature increases by just 1.1°C—say, from 25.6°C to 26.7°C—the cooling tower's performance will drop by approximately 16%. This means the outlet water temperature of the cooling tower will rise by 0.8°C. As demonstrated in the example above, even a small increase in wet-bulb temperature can lead to a significant decline in cooling efficiency.

Proper installation of a closed cooling tower scientifically ensures, at the core, that the Oasis Ice Peak closed cooling tower delivers its rated cooling performance. The key is to position the closed cooling tower in a way that allows fresh air to enter freely and unobstructed, while minimizing backflow as much as possible. To achieve this goal, the first step is to carefully consider the various factors that influence the assembly of the closed cooling tower—particularly spatial constraints, surrounding buildings, existing equipment, nearby structures, prevailing wind directions, piping arrangements, and potential future expansion plans.

Precise assembly of closed cooling towers can significantly minimize bacterial growth. Regular maintenance management and ensuring the correct installation location of the closed cooling tower are essential for maximizing the reduction of bacteria within the tower. The cooling tower should be positioned away from building fresh-air intakes, operable ventilation windows, kitchen exhaust systems, and shielded from prevailing winds that could direct its exhaust toward public areas. Additionally, the cooling tower must undergo proper water treatment procedures and be thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis. If draining the system is impractical, before starting the fan, the system should be flushed with an antimicrobial agent to eliminate any lingering contaminants.
